Board Member

Tanyka M. Barber has over 10 years of experience in civil rights/equal employment opportunity law. Ms. Barber currently serves as the Director of Diversity and EEO at Morgan State University where she is responsible for overseeing the University’s anti-discrimination, diversity and Title IX initiatives. Ms. Barber previously held a similar position at Baltimore County Public Schools. Ms. Barber also served as an Assistant General Counsel at the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights where worked on behalf of victims of employment, housing, and public accommodation discrimination. Ms. Barber has extensive experience providing trainings to various constituents on topics related to equal employment opportunity, sexual misconduct, and diversity.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Barber worked in the public health field for 7 years and held positions in government, non-profit, and academic institutions where she developed skills in research, policy development, community education and outreach, and program/project management.

Ms. Barber holds a B.S. in Health Education from Morgan State University; a M.H.S. in Health Policy from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health; and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
